We are currently looking for a very talented Solidworks CAD Design Engineer to join our close-knit aero seating product development team in our new Belfast engineering subsidiary (BFEN).

As part of a small, highly motivated product development and certification team you will aid in the delivery of design solutions for our premium economy/business class flexible seating solution.
In addition to contributing to the creation of innovative yet solid and proven 3D conceptual designs, you will produce 2D drawings and provide input regarding externally sourced hardware, material and process selection. Ideally, you will have experience in the use and administration of a PDM system and could provide input on the management and improvements of the PDM system we currently operate. As a member of the design team, you will be expected to effectively communicate with colleagues in both the Belfast and Hong Kong offices. We operate within a complex fast-moving environment so effective communication skills are essential.
Main Responsibilities
Providing design solutions for the functional operation of the seat mechanisms and modules.
Designing and developing components across the product lifecycle; with particular emphasis on providing designs that are optimised for manufacture and ease of assembly.
Developing component and assembly designs to align with requirements for each critical design milestone; ITCM, PDR, CDR, FAI.
Ensuring all designs adhere to the relevant standards and BFEN’s design manuals.
Creating 2D drawings in accordance with the selected manufacturing process and factory capabilities and managing BOMs.
Management and improvement of our Solidworks PDM system.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or HND/HNC in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
Have a minimum of 10 years’ post-degree experience working with Solidworks in a design role, ideally in the aerospace seating sector.
Essential Criteria
Strong experience in using Solidworks
Experience in designing metallic or composite components using Solidworks.
Experience in producing 2D drawings employing GD&T tolerancing using Solidworks.
Knowledge of following standard design guidelines and procedures
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Competent user of MS Office, MS Teams, other modern team software such as Trello or Slack
Flexible approach regarding working hours
Desirable Criteria
Experience in designing the functional operation of mechanisms
Experience in designing products that span the full product lifecycle
Experience in using and managing PDM and PLM systems
Knowledge in CAA, EASA and FAA regulations and the product certification process
Experience with Thermoplastics
Experience with Electrical Components
Salary & Benefits
32-38k GBP p.a. depending on seniority and experience
Annual performance-based bonus of 0-10%
