Butterfly Flexible Seating Solutions today unveiled the latest mock-up of Butterfly at the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg.
Butterfly 2.0 is the latest iteration of the Butterfly concept and is optimized for single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A320, A220 and the Boeing 737. Each Butterfly suite can be transformed instantly between two regional business class seats & one flatbed suite, enabling operators to adjust the cabin configuration for each flight. Swift conversion is especially crucial for the new generation of high performance single-aisle aircraft as a flexible cabin with Butterfly allows their efficient operation for both short and long-haul routes.
Technically, Butterfly features a simple, fully mechanical, non-motorized seat mechanism that minimizes maintenance cost and makes it one of the lightest flatbed suites in the industry.
Passenger experience highlights include highly private offset seating in regional business class, family-friendly options enabled by the unique side couch, all aisle-access flatbed suites at minimum 37” pitch, as well as dedicated surfaces for sitting and sleeping that produces an extra-wide, evenly flat sleeping surface with plenty of hip space for side sleepers.
Thanks to the support of Tapis Corporation, the Butterfly 2.0 mockup was showcased at the “Aircraft Seating Innovation Center” of Tapis’ booth and featured an extensive use of advanced material such as Ultraleather, Ultasuede, Tapisuede Flannel for the trim and finishing. In addition to our appreciation to Tapis, the Butterfly team would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the following suppliers for their generous support towards this project:
